Titan Pride Update, Friday, Aug 7

Good afternoon Titans!

I will be sending this regular update email every Friday during the marching season (through October), so be looking for it each Friday so you are up to date with the coming week, future events, and updates.

Clash of the Titans
This is an annual event that takes place tomorrow morning, August 8th. EVERY student in band, choir, orchestra, or any sport or other spirit squad MUST attend. At this event, students and a parent will be given all of the policies and rules one must follow to be eligible to participate in a sport or activity at LSW. This is a STATE requirement by MSHSAA.

The meeting is in the PAC at West and starts at 10:30am sharp. After a short meeting, you will proceed to the band room to sign the "commitment form". If you’d like, there is a pancake breakfast preceding the meeting.

IF you cannot make the meeting (the student and ONE parent), you will need to make arrangements through Monte Seabaugh in the activities office to come to school during business hours to take care of this requirement.

THIS MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED BEFORE AUGUST 28 (our first performance), or your student will not perform.

Rehearsal Tuesday, August 11
Rehearsal (like ALL of them) begins at 6:30pm and ends at 8:30pm. This week, there were SEVERAL late students. In the future, there will be consequences for being late, so please encourage your son/daughter to be 5-10 minutes early to all rehearsals/call times. I always preach to them that "on time is late"! All students should come to each evening rehearsal, unless otherwise noted, in their "section shirts" (please see section leader if you don’t have one)

Rehearsal Thursday, August 13
PICTURE NIGHT
Please have students arrive early if possible. The goal is to be snapping the picture in FULL uniform before 6:45pm. Please have all students arrive in their "uniform shirt" (if you ordered one last week, it will not be in, so please wear a black tee shirt). All drumline students and drum majors will need to bring their black marching shoes as well.
Again, rehearsal is from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Show Shirts
This is a shirt that we create every year in the theme of our competition show. This year’s theme is SHINE. The Music Parents organization is ordering shirts for parents to wear in support of the band this year. You may have already placed an order at the registration table, but if you didn’t, and you would like to order one for $10, you need to email Mary Grigsby with sizing information no later than Thursday, August 13th at 11pm. You can pay upon picking them up when they come in. Mary’s email is marygrigsby@gmail.com

Thank you and have a GREAT weekend!

Updates, picnic, parade, etc…..

Hi there! We are in full swing now. The weather cooperated today and gave us a wonderfully pleasant rehearsal outside. The kids are doing AWESOME!

Thursday night rehearsal
Please arrive at LSHS by 5:50pm. Drumline members should proceed to the PAC. Brass and Woodwind members should proceed to the fieldhouse. Guard members should proceed to the Bldg A Gym.
We will rehearse until 8pm. Please pick up your child near the football stadium at 8pm.
Drumline and Sousaphone instruments will be transported to/from the rehearsal AND Saturday’s events. Please allow them a couple of minutes after rehearsal to prepare their instrument for travel.

Friday night picnic/performance
I have sent home the attached flier with your son/daughter in hopes that they share it with you. It contains information about our picnic and performance. Please drop all food off in the Commons at school BEFORE you go down to the parking lot for the performance. We plan to start the performance AT 6pm, so please arrive early enough for 1. your son/daughter to be ready to play, and 2. for you to drop off your food and walk to the parking lot.

Saturday Truly150 event
Meet in the Field House at LSHS at 9:15 AM in provided tee shirt and khaki shorts (no denim or athletic shorts) and tennis shoes
Cases can be put on the FH Mezzanine
Block up in the FH and remain as long as we can out of the heat.

Parade starts at 10, when we are finished (around where the cage parking lot is on the north side of LSHS), students will be dismissed to go into LSHS through the cafeteria where we will have water if they wish.

Saturday evening:
