Great Choir Concert Last Night

Great concert last night, everyone! Just a loose end to “tie up” (Pun intended) from Mrs. Krinke:

If your son did not turn in his Men’s Choir Jacket and Tie on Tuesday night, he must have it turned in no later than Friday, April 19. Any boys who fail to turn in their uniforms will be issued a fine card.

Thank you so much for your support!

Parade of Choirs Tomorrow

The Parade of Choirs takes place tomorrow evening, April 16. Call times for all high school choirs is 6:10. The program will begin at 7:00. This is always a great event to showcase our talent at SLMS and LSWHS. Good luck to all participants, and parents, enjoy a fantastic performance!

State contest information

Here is a document with all the information you should need for State solo/ensemble contest in Columbia on April 26th. This includes info on parking, maps, attire, permission slips (required), etc…

Titan Pride this week

Contest is over. Enough said.

The kids did a FABULOUS job. I’m truly amazed by the talent and professionalism they showed throughout this process. The Concert Band played a wonderful performance with some very difficult music, full of some very exposed sections where individuals really had to pull their weight. I’m proud of them for a fine job and an Excellent “2” rating! The Symphonic Band gave a very inspired performance as well, I’ve never been prouder in my 14 years of teaching. They came out with a Superior “1” rating.

Lee’s Summit Festival (see this post)
This Thursday, many kids will be competing at the Lee’s Summit Festival. This will take place between 3pm and 5pm at LSHS in the PAC area. The schedule came out last night, so here it is. Many kids (most of which don’t drive) have times that occur before most of you get out of work. I have asked the kids today to work on carpools with other parents and such. Please help make sure your student gets to LSHS at least 20 minutes prior to their assigned performance time. Students should be dressed appropriately (tuxedo/dress is fine, but could be something a little less formal) Here is the schedule.

Brass Class

This week brass class will be canceled. Please enjoy one more day of 20 extra minutes of sleep.

Jazz in the Courtyard
On Friday, April 19th, the jazz bands from the R7 School District will be putting on a concert in LSW’s courtyard. It is an evening to be enjoyed by all. Please consider attending and supporting our Titan Jazz for an evening of music.

State Contest
On Friday, April 26th, all students who received a “1” rating at District Solo/Ensemble contest last month will be competing at State Solo/Ensemble Contest. This takes place at MU in Columbia. Students involved are excused from school that day. Transportation is NOT provided, so please let me know if you will have trouble getting your son/daughter to Columbia for the event. We probably won’t know performance times until next week.

Cavalcade of Bands
Monday, April 29th – Concert Band and Percussion Class in performance in the LSW Fieldhouse. Concert begins at 7:00pm. Concert attire is the dress for the evening. All tuxedos will be returned to the school after this concert, so boys will need to bring a change of clothes for after the concert.
Tuesday, April 30th – Symphonic Band and Titan Jazz in performance in the LSW Fieldhouse. Concert begins at 7:00pm. Concert attire is the dress for the evening. All tuxedos will be returned to the school after this concert, so boys will need to bring a change of clothes for after the concert.

Music Awards
Tuesday May 7th, all students receiving a music letter or a medal/certificate from solo/ensemble are encouraged to attend our Music Awards Ceremony. This event begins at 6:30pm. Also, there will be some honor performances that night of some of our best musicians on their solos from State.

Have a great week!
