Parade of Choirs – Tuesday April 26 for ALL Choir Members (Required Performance)

We are looking forward to seeing you all at Parade of Choirs Tuesday in the Fieldhouse at LSW. The call time for all choirs is 6:15 p.m. Titan Harmony call is 5:45 p.m. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will last for about an hour and a half. All students wear their normal performance attire.

Also, we are in desperate need for 4-6 parent volunteers to assist with uniform collection immediately following the program. It’s very simple and will only take about half an hour. If you are available to help out, please contact Mrs. Pabst.

Senior Parents, each senior will be recognized on Tuesday night to thank them for their service in the choral dept. Also, for the FNL slideshow: 1 baby picture and 1 senior picture will featured in the slideshow at the end of FNL. Please send these pictures to Marli Griffith. We also need your students future plans. Example: Marli Griffith, Missouri State University, Music Education. Please DO NOT send these photos to me:) These are due next Wednesday, April 27th.

Thank you!

Amy Krinke

Marching Band 2016-17 Update

Good morning and a happy Thursday to you!

Here is some updated information for next year’s band (some of which takes action from you now):

  1. The mattress fundraiser is THIS Sunday! Please do your best to get 2-3 people to come shop for a mattress. Also, the trash bag fundraiser (mainly for Chicago trip participants, but all had the opportunity) will end on Sunday night and the money/orders must be turned in on Monday at school. Make sure checks are made payable to LSW Music Parents.
  2. ALL members of next year’s band MUST have a completed physical exam performed AFTER February 1, 2016. This physical exam (on the attached form) MUST be on file with LSWHS before your son/daughter’s first day of band (June 6 for colorguard, July 17 for drumline, July 22 for other first year members, and July 25 for all veteran members). I realize that many of you have insurance that won’t allow you to get another exam prior to those dates. Unfortunately it is a mandated procedure. Therefore, we are holding a physical exam clinic on Saturday, May 7th. Many of our parents are doctors/nurses and have volunteered their time and clinic to hold and perform the physicals. The exam will cost you $20 made payable to LSW Bands, to be collected on the day of the physicals. Please sign up for an appointment at this link: Physical Exam Appointment Sign Up Form
  3. I also have attached, below, the schedule for the summer and fall. There were some minor changes, so make sure you look carefully.

Have a great weekend and we hope to see you and your friends on Sunday at the annual Mattress Fundraiser!

The Lee’s Summit West Music Programs are hosting a one day mattress sale! This Sunday, April 24th, from 10AM-5PM we will have a mattress showroom set up in the Commons at Lee’s Summit West High School. There are over 20 name-brand models to choose from. The beds come in all sizes, are made to order, have factory warranties and cost less than retail stores! In addition, we will have pillows, sheets, frames, and adjustable bases available. Every purchase benefits the Band! Delivery and haul away are available. Come check out the sale if you need to replace a bed in your home! See ANY music student to pick up a flyer for $50 off a mattress purchase (available at LSW at the time of the sale).

LSWMP News (for parents and students)

Good morning,

I’d like to give a huge THANK YOU to all of those that volunteered at the Music Festival in March and April.students, parents along with other family and friends. I don’t have the final figures yet for the student accounts, waiting on what we’ll get for door monitor reimbursement from the state, our concessions sales were down this year however. Congratulations to all of the students for their hard work and for receiving awesome scores.

News and notes:

Trash bag fundraiser – Everyone should have received an email with information. If not please contact the fundraising coordinator at lswmusicfundraising@gmail.com

Mattress Fundraiser – Everyone should have also received information for this from Mr. Thurmond, if not please contact him at Clifton.thurmond@lsr7.net. There is an opportunity for individual funds for this as well.

Senior scholarship – Seniors all received an email from me about this, turn all information in by the 20th.

Officer elections – We’ll be electing officers at our next meeting on April 21st. Currently the Music Festival position is open if anyone would be willing to head this.

Lettering information – Teachers should soon be making this available for all students to fill out. If you don’t fill out the google document then there won’t be awards for you at the awards show. Awards are provided by the music parents organization for the students that attend this event. Look for more information coming on this.

Fireworks tent – For those that have been around this before, we got it this year! For those that haven’t, LSW will host a fireworks tent that is run through Pyro City out of Lone Jack by the music parents. In this past this has been a general fundraiser, this year it’s going to be an individual fundraiser completely. I’ll be able to provide more information on this at a later date, likely towards the end of May.
