A message from Rick Chapman, Music Parents President:
January has been a busy month and the rest of the year will have many upcoming events and activities.
** Missouri Music Educators Association Conference was held at TanTarA Resort from January 25 to 28.
Our Una Voce Chamber Choir and our Symphonic Band performed in a packed house on Friday, January 27. Both performances brought the house down. The groups performed beyond expectations. AND they were the talk of the conference.
We thank Mrs. Krinke, Mr. Thurmond, and Mr. Harrel for the preparations of the groups.
A special thank you goes to Mark Hereford and Gene Cook for driving the equipment truck on Thursday night and returning on Friday night. On their return, just east of Osage Beach, the truck experienced a breakdown. After getting it repaired, they returned to the school around 9:00 Friday night.
We thank Mr. Braune, Terry and Collin Allen, and the drivers for unloading the truck at the late hour.
If you wish to order any C/Ds or DVDs, you can refer to the MMEA_Order_form. The production company will honor orders for a few months.
Theater Musical: Take note that the Theater group will perform this year’s musical: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Feb. 10, 11, 17, 18, 19. Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:30. The Sunday performance starts at 2:30. You can order tickets on the LSW High School Website.
A Taste of Lee’s Summit is March 3rd at John Knox Pavillion at 6:00. Tickets are $60.00. The Music Parent organizations participate and receive a donation from the Educational Foundation.

LS West will once again host the Spring Music Festival in March. The dates are March 23 & 24 and March 28 – 31. The volunteer schedule will be posted shortly. A notice will be sent out to all parents where we encourage your participation.
We have new merchandise to tell you about. Meiner’s Gas and Convenience store has given us a great price on their 32 ounce plastic mugs. We will sell them at $5.00 each, as do other schools. Once you take the mug into any of their stores, you can refill the mug with any fountain drink for only .39 cents. This is good for this year, 2012.
The store closest to us is om MO150, west of Ward Rd.
Refer to their website for other locations: www.meinersmarket.com
We will have mugs available at the next meeting on Feb. 14. We will forward additional information on how to purchase a mug (or more).
Prom: Gowns and Tuxedo
We use Bridal Solutions Tailor and Tuxedo for special hemming on some marching band uniforms and tuxedos.
They have specials for the upcoming Prom season. I will bring their discount cards to the next meeting.
Gowns: $25.00 off any gown. There are a lot already made for the occasion.
Tuxedo rental: $89.95 that includes shoes with the rental.
Special discount for tuxedo rentals. If any of the boys can have 10 friends order a rental, the person who has the ten names will get their tuxedo rental free. We will follow up as we approach the Prom date.
