Drumline Camp 2016

If you have a son/daughter in the drumline at LSWHS, our Drumline Camp is coming in just 9 days!
Just for some points of clarification, there are two sub-sections within the drumline, the "battery" (snare, tenors, bass) and the "frontline" (mallets, piano, auxiliary percussion).

Battery will start camp on Sunday, July 17th at LSHS at noon. You will need to check in by 11:45am, so maybe you can go to church early that day 🙂
Below, you will see a schedule of events for this 2-day camp put on by the Blue Devils (a drum and bugle corps) In addition, there are two forms toward the end of the packet that you need to have filled out and brought to registration before the first session begins. You do NOT need to fill out the registration form, as I have already done so for you.
Please review the schedule so you are aware of time commitments.
This camp will conclude Monday night with a trip to see the DCI competition in Warrensburg. Transportation will be provided by the school district (stay tuned for more information about this)
The battery will then continue it’s camp at LSWHS on Tuesday morning from 8am to 3pm and continue through Friday. There will be a short lunch break, but you are to bring your lunch. NO STUDENTS are permitted to leave campus for lunch.

The attachment below is ONLY for battery members.

Frontline will start camp on Monday, July 18th at LSWHS from 8am to 3pm and continue through Friday. There will be a short lunch break, but you are to bring your lunch. NO STUDENTS are permitted to leave campus for lunch.
In addition, students will be attending the DCI competition in Warrensburg on Monday evening. Transportation will be provided by the school district (stay tuned for more information about this)

Fees for this camp will be collected during band camp the following week, so no need to bring money.

Una Vocé 2016-2017

Please see the attached list for UnaVoce 2016-17.

Thank you ALL for investing so much of your time and energy in the audition process for the 2016-2017 Chamber Choir. Obviously, this is an incredibly competitive process, but unfortunately there cannot be a place for everyone. I am so proud of each and every one of you. What amazing and talented students we have at Lee’s Summit West!

The following criteria was used to select this choir:
â—Ź Solo Performance (tone quality, accuracy, intonation, diction, musicality)
● Sight Reading (pitch, rhythm, fluency, intonation)
● Ensemble Singing (tone quality/color, intonation, “blendability”, rehearsal etiquette, preparation of music, independence, contribution.
● “Every day is an audition” Teacher Recommendations, grades, attendance, classroom behavior, work ethic, contribution to daily rehearsal

If you would like to speak with me regarding your audition, my door is always open. I am asking, however, that you please wait 24 hours before coming to talk to me or to send an email – I know this particular audition can be very emotional. It is always best to distance yourself from the emotion of it all first – that is the reason for the 24 hours. Please follow the same “grace period” for parent contact, if you or your parents feel that is necessary.

FNL – Friday Night Live for ALL choir members

Dear Choir Families:

“Friday Night Live” is approaching quickly and is Friday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. If you are new to the choral program, “Friday Night Live” is the primary fundraiser for the Choral Department, and the funds raised at this event sustain the choral department for the next school year.

FNL is a student-led variety show that features all of the LSW choirs as well as soloists and small groups. It is a high energy and entertaining night, and the kids have an incredible show this year! We have gone over all of this information with classes, so the kids should be able to provide information as well.

FNL T-Shirts: T-Shirts will be on sale TOMORROW, May 4th and Thursday, May 5th. The T-shirts are adult sizes Small through XXL. They are $13.00 per shirt and sizes are limited (first come first served). Shirts may be picked up Friday morning. Please make checks payable to LSW.

Tickets: Anyone attending FNL must have a ticket. There are two types of tickets available: General Admission Tickets and VIP Tickets. All tickets are currently selling at lunch and out of the choir office.

General Admission Tickets are $7.00 in advance, $8.00 at the door. Seats are first come, first served and seating may be limited unless you arrive early to stand in line. The doors to the PAC will open at 6:15 p.m.

VIP Tickets are $20.00 and are assigned seats in the first several rows of the Center Section of the PAC. Advantages to a VIP Ticket are 1) having the best-available reserved seat 2) enjoying a front and center view 3) no waiting in line or needing to arrive early

Costumes: All classes have planned their costumes. Please ask your student what their costume requirements are and they will be able to tell you.

** Performance at FNL is a required part of each student’s semester grade. Students must perform with their choir in order to earn their concert points. Since this is a fundraising event, students who want to watch the show from the PAC must purchase a ticket for themselves. Watching the show from the PAC is not required for a grade.

Thank you for supporting FNL! We look forward to seeing you next weekend for a great show!
