Saturday Guard Results

Congrats for a couple of fine performances at this Saturday’s contest at Blue Springs South H.S.

The LSW Guard scored 78.17 for a 2nd place finish out of 10 guards and the SLMS Guard placed third out of 5 guards.

Keep up the hard work. Well done!

Guard Bring-a-friend rehearsal

The high school guard is putting on a “Bring-a-Friend” rehearsal next Monday March 25th from 5:30pm-8:30pm in the aux gyms. Guard members, talk to your friends and bring one with you — band members find a guard member and join them! The guard could always use a few more members for the upcoming marching season. Monday night there will be treats to share, everyone will learn a simple and fun routine and we’ll play around with rifles for a bit. It’s all for fun and possible recruitment for next season.

Band Update

Wow!  Back from NYC and no rest for the weary.  We had a GREAT time.  The kids were awesome, behaved well, didn’t complain, and represented LSW to it’s highest regard. I was proud of them and it allowed the staff to have a good time as well.  The performance was an extreme highlight of my career and I credit that to the kids as they played their rear-ends off.  In fact, as some of them have told you, I had trouble holding back the tears at the end of a very inspiring performance of Shenandoah.

Woodwind Class
Tomorrow morning, 6:45AM is when we START .  See you all there!  We have clinicians scheduled to work with the kids, so please have them there on time.

District Contest
This Saturday, SOME  of the students are performing a solo or small ensemble at District Contest, which is hosted here at LSW.  Students not on the attached schedule will be performing at the Lee’s Summit Festival in mid-April.  More info on that to come.  Here is an UPDATED  schedule.  All changes were at the request of the student, so they should know about it already, but wanted you to have the right times/rooms.

Concert Band Playing Test #3

Due Friday, March 8th: Practice this section of your music and record a playing test using SmartMusic at home or be prepared to perform a playing test on the computers during class. The benefit to completing your playing test at home is that you can practice and perform the test several times. You’ll have a 5-minute time slot to do the same in class, but you should spend plenty of time practicing the material at home so you are prepared — just like studying before a test.
