Spring Orchestra Concert March 25th

Hello Orchestra Parents and Students (Including Wind/Perc. Players in Symphony):

Due to the snow week and early Music Festival performance times, we are having a Spring Pre-Contest Concert in the PAC at Lee’s Summit West at 7:30pm on Tuesday March 25th.

We are having a 7:30 start time so that we will conflict as little as possible with a Titan Harmony choral rehearsal that is scheduled for that evening.

There is a 7pm call time for all orchestras.

The groups playing are:

PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
SYMPHONY STRINGS
SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

We will be performing our contest pieces. Please come here this amazing music. The concert will not be long.

Sincerely,

Kirt Mosier

Winter Concert – Collection to benefit Sam Smith

Good morning!

Tonight is the Instrumental Winter Concert featuring the marvelous LSW bands and orchestras. The directors have provided the students with their specific call times and the concert is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.

After the concert, the students will be hosting a very special monetary collection for Sam Smith. Sam is a sophomore at LSW who was diagnosed with bone cancer two years ago. Recently, it was discovered that the cancer had returned. As you can imagine, the financial hardship has been significant for his family. The students would like to collect money to assist the family and to show Sam their love and support.

As you exit the concert, students will have donation boxes and ask that you please contribute to help a very special student.

Christmas Concert Decorations Volunteer Opportunity

We will be decorating the stage for next Tuesday’s instrumental concert on Monday, Dec. 9 from 3-5 PM. We could use 3 adult volunteers, if possible. I am also hoping for community service hours for some teenagers who would be staying after school to carry items to the stage, help decorate, and then taking down after the program Tuesday and putting back up for the 16th. We were able to do that last year, and it made everything move along very quickly! Contact Gay Beth Bingham if you are able to help.

Titan Pride Update, Upcoming important dates!

What a weekend it was! Titans bring home their 3rd State title in 10 years. We had a blast, as I hope your kids did as well. They represented the school very well, in both pride and performance.

Here are a couple of dates and bits of information for your reading pleasure:

Saturday, December 7th
All-State Band Auditions
This only effects a few, those who made All-District Band, but I wanted to share a little.
Students will need to be on campus at Hickman High School in Columbia, MO sometime after 8:30am. Upon arriving, please locate Mr. Thurmond and get your audition number. At that time you will go to the room and sign up for an audition with said number. Auditions begin at 9am. You should plan to stay until you have seen “callback” lists posted. If you are on that list, you will need to audition again. If you are not on that list, you are free to go home.
Come prepared for a LONG day. Bring something to do, and stuff to eat. You will be doing a lot of sitting and waiting.

We will be playing at one basketball game this year, on this date. Please reserve this in your calendars now. More information to follow.

Band Fees
There are still a handful of students with an outstanding balance for marching band fees from the fall. Please take care of this as soon as possible. As of December 6th, I will be placing a fine card on the student in the front office. I need to wrap this up before THIS Friday.

Percussion Orchestra Contract
Members of the battery are a part of the Percussion Orchestra in the Winter/Spring for Contest. They were to fill out the attached contract and return it to me signed by a parent and the student by Friday, November 22nd.
There are still 7 out of 13 that have not turned it in. If you have not taken care of this, please do so at once.

Have a great week.

Choir Concert

Titan Pride Choral Members and Families:

Our fall choral concert is Monday evening, October 14 at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM in the LSW PAC. In order to accommodate the large number of people who attend our choral events, there are some changes in the way the concert is organized this year. Please see below for specific information on the arrival and performance times for your student.

5:20 PM: Freshman Women’s Choir on stage

5:30 PM: Men’s Choir, Una Voce and Concert Choir in the choir room

6:00 – 7:00 PM: Concert A Performance. Parents, family, friends, and guests of Men’s Choir and Freshman Women’s choir should attend concert A.

6:45 PM: Women’s Choir in choir room

7:00 – 7:20 PM: Clash of the Titans. Debbie Katzfey will present a final “Clash of the Titans” eligibility presentation to those who have not

completed it. EVERY CHOIR MEMBER MUST HAVE THIS COMPLETED next week. If you have already completed this for a Fall sport, you will not need to attend Clash of the Titans.

7:30 – 8:30 PM: Concert B Performance. Parents, family, friends, and guests of Women’s Choir, Concert Choir, and Una Voce should attend concert B.

Additional Information:

Students should arrive to LSW dressed in their assigned performance attire. Performance attire been discussed with the students in class, and can also be found on www.titanmusic.org in the class syllabus. Performances are a graded component of our choir classes.

Thank you in advance for your flexibility with this new format. Our hope is to have more space for families to invite guests, and have a more comfortable atmosphere by allowing more seating. The kids have been working really hard and have a great evening of choral music prepared for you! We are looking forward to seeing you Monday evening!
