Music Festival Volunteers Needed

District Solo/Small Ensemble Festival was a great success! Thanks to the wonderful parents that volunteered their time to support the incredibly talented kids in the LSW music department. We had 85 parent volunteers that together volunteered over 400 hours. I know that the staff and kids appreciated our support.

We still need volunteers for the State Large Ensemble Festival. Dates are:

· Wed, Mar. 26th from 2:30pm to 9:30pm

· Thurs, Mar. 27th from 12:30pm to 10:00pm

· Fri, Mar. 28th from 2:30pm to 9:00pm

· Sat, Mar. 29th from 7:30am to 7:30pm

Volunteering during the Large Ensemble portion of contest will give you the opportunity to listen to some fantastic groups. Here is a brief description of the volunteer positions:

· Door Monitor: Ensure doors remain closed during performances and assist with crowd flow between performances

· Director Check In: Collect music and stage setup from directors and answer general questions

· Group Escort: Escorts groups from gymnasium to warm-up room

· Sight Reading: Hand music out to students and collect music after performance

· Stage Manager: Manage students in preparing stage for each performing group

There are also more opportunities for students to volunteer during the Large Ensemble portion of contest. Student sign-up sheets are posted outside the choir room.

Please go to Charms to volunteer for a shift. If you have any problems with Charms, please contact me.

Letħ really show our support for the music program and show up with an army of volunteers. The more volunteers that we have, the more fun we will have!

Odessa Marching Festival This week

Greetings!

This Saturday marks the final competition of the year for the Titan Pride marching band. It’s hard to believe the season is almost over!

Loading: We will meet at the school around 11:45am to load the trailers. Once the trailers are loaded, we will head out to Odessa so that we can get there before the band and have everything set up before they arrive. Parent help with loading and unloading the trailers is always appreciated.

Dinner: The final meal of the competition season is always a special occasion. This special meal will feature steak, green beans, loaded mashed potatoes, rolls and cobbler (apple & peach). We would love to have a large gathering to enjoy each others company and enjoy the students last marching band performance of the year! The cost for family members to eat with the band is $7 per meal (band members do not have to pay). If you would like to eat with the band, please email Mary so that we can make sure we have enough food. If you have dietary needs, please also let Mary know so she can ensure everyone has food available.

Thanks and please let me know if you have any questions!

UCM Info for Parents

Hello!

What a day we had at the Bronco Invitational! The Drumline and Colorguard took first place in our division in the indoor competition. The band got their field performance completed just before the event was cancelled due to lightning. Although there were no results posted, the performance was very good and I’m amazed at the progress that was made from the prior week at Park Hill. Good job band! Keep up the good work!! I really love that final movement and your last formation looked great!!

New York City Trip
Many students have not made their October 1st payment of $200. Please make sure this is done immediately as we are paying bills every week. Also, please keep informed that each payment is $200 from here on out. Please have them in on the 1st of every month through December.

UCM Festival of Champions

The schedule for the festival is posted online, and the Titan Pride schedule will be coming out shortly. The drum line (in Black division) performs at 9:52 and the guard (in Black division) performs at 1:00. The Titan Pride band takes the field in preliminary performance at 2:18.

The field show competition is divided into Prelims and Finals. The band is in the Red Division (second largest class), which is based on band size. Top two bands from each class will perform in finals as well as the next four highest scoring bands regardless of their class size. Finals competition begins at 6:30.

Good luck Titan Pride. Let’s finish the year on a high note!

Bronco Invitational

The Titan Pride band was one of two bands to finish their show before the remaining outdoor performances were cancelled due to lightning. Many of the remaining bands took thier performances inside for judge’s critique only. No placements were awarded.

In the indoor competition, the drum line and color guard both finished first in the Silver Division. Despite the weather, it was a great day to be a Titan!

The full details of the festival are available here.
