Redemptorist Concert on SUNDAY

Dear Choir Families:

This e-mail contains important information regarding Sunday’s performance at Redemptorist Church. An itinerary was passed out to students in Concert Choir today, Titan Harmony students in Freshman Women and Women’s Choir will receive it tomorrow. I have attached it to this e-mail.

I would encourage all of you to attend and support your student. Redemptorist Church is one of the finest acoustic venues for choral singing in Kansas City. We have specifically selected music to be sung in this space. The concert heavily features the Concert Chorale. The kids are singing very well, and it is going to be a stunning concert. This space holds 1200, so bring friends and family!

The students need to arrive to LSW dressed in their performance attire at 12:20 to load the buses. The sanctuary will open at 2:30 for seating, with the concert starting at 3:00. There is not a large lobby for gathering prior to 2:30, also restrooms are limited at the church. There is ample parking next door and behind the church. Please see attached sheet for more details.

This is a free event. We will collect a small donation at the conclusion of the concert, to offset the cost to provide this opportunity to our students.

Please e-mail if you have any questions. See you Sunday!

This is the same day as Friday Night Live. Boys: tennis shoes/sneakers, jeans, black dress shirt, bright solid-colored tie. Girls: black leggings, a reflective top (sequined, glitter, etc.).

FNL – required for all choir students – ticket and t-shirt information

Dear Choir Families:

“Friday Night Live” is approaching quickly and it is SATURDAY, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. If you are new to the choral program, “Friday Night Live” is the primary Fundraiser for the Choral Department, and the funds raised at this event sustain the choral department for the next school year. FNL is a student-led variety show that features all of the LSW choirs as well as soloists and small groups. It is a high energy and entertaining night, and the kids have an incredible show this year! We have gone over all of this information with classes, so the kids should be able to provide information as well.

FNL T-Shirts: T-Shirts will be on sale TOMORROW, May 1st and Friday, May 2. The T-shirts are adult sizes Small through XXL. They are $10.00 per shirt. Students ordering a shirt must bring their $10.00 no later than Friday, May 2. Shirts will be delivered to students on Wednesday, May 7. Please make checks payable to LSW.

Tickets: This year we are trying out some new options with tickets to meet the needs of our patrons as well as our Choral Department. There are two types of tickets available: General Admission Tickets and VIP Tickets. Tickets will be ‘pre-sold’ in choir classes the rest of this week, and will open to the general public on Monday.

General Admission Tickets are $7.00 in advance, $8.00 at the door. This is the same type of ticket that we have had in the past. Seats are first come, first served and seating may be limited unless you arrive early to stand in line.

VIP Tickets are $20.00 and are assigned seats in the first several rows of the Center Section of the PAC. Advantages to a VIP Ticket are 1) having the best-available reserved seat, 2) enjoying a front and center view, and 3) no waiting in line or needing to arrive extra early 4) a couple of other fun surprises 🙂

** Performance at FNL is a required part of each student’s semester grade. Students must perform with their choir in order to earn their concert points. Since this is a fundraising event, students who want to watch the show from the PAC must purchase a ticket for themselves. Watching the show from the PAC is not required for a grade.

Thank you for supporting FNL! Please stay tuned for more specific information regarding call times, costumes, and other details. We look forward to seeing you next weekend for a great show!

Titan Pride Update, Upcoming important dates!

What a weekend it was! Titans bring home their 3rd State title in 10 years. We had a blast, as I hope your kids did as well. They represented the school very well, in both pride and performance.

Here are a couple of dates and bits of information for your reading pleasure:

Saturday, December 7th
All-State Band Auditions
This only effects a few, those who made All-District Band, but I wanted to share a little.
Students will need to be on campus at Hickman High School in Columbia, MO sometime after 8:30am. Upon arriving, please locate Mr. Thurmond and get your audition number. At that time you will go to the room and sign up for an audition with said number. Auditions begin at 9am. You should plan to stay until you have seen “callback” lists posted. If you are on that list, you will need to audition again. If you are not on that list, you are free to go home.
Come prepared for a LONG day. Bring something to do, and stuff to eat. You will be doing a lot of sitting and waiting.

Tuesday, December 10th
Winter Concert, Symphonic Band/Concert Band/Percussion Ensemble/Titan Jazz, 7pm
Symphonic Band – Call time is 6:45pm in the PAC audience (reserved seats)
Concert Band – Call time is 6:30pm in the Choir Room

Girls are to wear purchased concert dress, hose and black shoes.
All members of Percussion Ensemble are to wear ALL BLACK dress clothes. Boys must be in slacks and a black, long-sleeved, button down dress shirt, with black socks/shoes. Girls are to wear the female equivalent of this (flexible).
Students should expect to stay for the ENTIRE concert as an audience member before and after their performance. Seats will be reserved.

Friday, January 10th
Pep Band Performance at Girls/Boys Basketball game, Time TBA
We will be playing at one basketball game this year, on this date. Please reserve this in your calendars now. More information to follow.

Band Fees
There are still a handful of students with an outstanding balance for marching band fees from the fall. Please take care of this as soon as possible. As of December 6th, I will be placing a fine card on the student in the front office. I need to wrap this up before THIS Friday.

Percussion Orchestra Contract
Members of the battery are a part of the Percussion Orchestra in the Winter/Spring for Contest. They were to fill out the attached contract and return it to me signed by a parent and the student by Friday, November 22nd.
There are still 7 out of 13 that have not turned it in. If you have not taken care of this, please do so at once.

Percussion Ensemble Contract

Have a great week.

Giving Thanks

Dear Choir families,

We want to personally thank all of you for attending the

Concert on Sunday afternoon at Redemptorist Church. We were blown away by the amazing turnout and

response to each of the choirs. The kids

had a tremendous experience. Thanks to your generous donations, over $900 was

collected on Sunday.

After a concert like this one, it is incredibly obvious that

the LSW Choral Program serves a very diverse group of kids who are worth

recognizing for their fine achievements outside of the choir. Here are some facts about the 84-member Concert

Choir that you might find interesting:

68 members take Advanced Classes

– 27 members have over a 4.0 weighted GPA

35 members are taking at least 1 IB Course

6 members are currently perusing the IB Diploma

24 have played a Varity Sport

32 have played a Junior Varsity Sport

29 members are in Band or Orchestra

33 members take private voice lessons

Parents, thank you for supporting your child’s involvement

in choir throughout their high school career.

We are indeed thankful to work with such an intelligent, hardworking,

and diverse group of kids.

Warmly,

Amy Krinke, Ryan Sullivan, and Terrin Pabst

Drumline Performance

Congratulations to Mr. Braun and the Titan Pride Drumline on a great job at Drummit at the Summit this weekend. The group excelled on and off the field, taking first place in their division. Thanks to everyone who came to support the drumline. We all saw a great show!
