All Choir Members: Performance times for State Festival, SATURDAY March 29

Dear Choir Families:

This performance is a graded component of all choir classes and has been on the choir calendar since the first day of school. All students need to arrive at LSW dressed in their concert attire.

MSHSAA State Festivals are open to the public, and involve all of the large high schools south of the Missouri River. Giving Thanks

Dear Choir families,

We want to personally thank all of you for attending the

Concert on Sunday afternoon at Redemptorist Church. We were blown away by the amazing turnout and

response to each of the choirs. The kids

had a tremendous experience. Thanks to your generous donations, over $900 was

collected on Sunday.

After a concert like this one, it is incredibly obvious that

the LSW Choral Program serves a very diverse group of kids who are worth

recognizing for their fine achievements outside of the choir. Here are some facts about the 84-member Concert

Choir that you might find interesting:

68 members take Advanced Classes

– 27 members have over a 4.0 weighted GPA

35 members are taking at least 1 IB Course

6 members are currently perusing the IB Diploma

24 have played a Varity Sport

32 have played a Junior Varsity Sport

29 members are in Band or Orchestra

33 members take private voice lessons

Parents, thank you for supporting your child’s involvement

in choir throughout their high school career.

We are indeed thankful to work with such an intelligent, hardworking,

and diverse group of kids.

Warmly,

Amy Krinke, Ryan Sullivan, and Terrin Pabst

LSWMP November information and All District

This is a copy of a group email sent by Music Parent President.

Good afternoon,

Many students from the band and orchestra participated this past Saturday in All District auditions. As with Choir the music program at West has been blessed with many who made it.

Band had 10 students make all district, one student achieved it with two instruments, along with two making honorable mention. Orchestra had 29 students make all district. CONGRATULATIONS to all of those students. Next for these students is All State on December 7th.

Fundraising:
The current fundraiser that is going on is due no later than November 18th. If orders aren’t received by then they’ll be turned back to the students. The reason for this is for orders to be received before Christmas they must be placed by November 18th.As always all fundraisers are optional and studen ts aren’t required to participate in them. Student account fundraisers go to the specific student accounts and can be used for fees associated with music and the just announced music trip as well.

Andrea Kaiser is working on more fundraisers that will happen throughout the year, some of these will involve selling and some of them won’t. If you have ideas or suggestions please let her know.

Christmas in the Park: There are still volunteer opportunities for this event on Friday, November 29th. This is a general music account fundraiser. The general account is used for many things that you may or may not know about. For example: all state students receive a folio, plaque in the music hallway and per diem for their trip to the all state; general music equipment repairs, music awards and clinicians just to name a few.

Uniforms: Once the football season is over we’ll need help getting marching band uniforms ready to send to the cleaners. If you’re interested in this please let me know.

Music Trip: On Wednesday, November 6, the students were given a presentation for music trip that is happening March 12-17, 2015 to Washington DC. I’m currently working with the staff on an email I’ll be sending out with more information.

Upcoming Dates:

November 24 – Choir Exchange Concert at Redemptorist Catholic Church
November 29 — Christmas in the Park (Volunteer opportunity)
December 5 — LSWMP meeting
December 7 — All State Band/Orchestra/Jazz auditions
December 8 — Dinner and Divas — Women’s Choir
December 10 — Instrumental Winter Concert (1830)
December 16 — Winter Choral Concert

As always should you have any questions please let me know.

Choir Concert

Titan Pride Choral Members and Families:

Our fall choral concert is Monday evening, October 14 at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM in the LSW PAC. In order to accommodate the large number of people who attend our choral events, there are some changes in the way the concert is organized this year. Please see below for specific information on the arrival and performance times for your student.

5:20 PM: Freshman Women’s Choir on stage

5:30 PM: Men’s Choir, Una Voce and Concert Choir in the choir room

6:00 – 7:00 PM: Concert A Performance. Parents, family, friends, and guests of Men’s Choir and Freshman Women’s choir should attend concert A.

6:45 PM: Women’s Choir in choir room

7:00 – 7:20 PM: Clash of the Titans. Debbie Katzfey will present a final “Clash of the Titans” eligibility presentation to those who have not

completed it. EVERY CHOIR MEMBER MUST HAVE THIS COMPLETED next week. If you have already completed this for a Fall sport, you will not need to attend Clash of the Titans.

7:30 – 8:30 PM: Concert B Performance. Parents, family, friends, and guests of Women’s Choir, Concert Choir, and Una Voce should attend concert B.

Additional Information:

Students should arrive to LSW dressed in their assigned performance attire. Performance attire been discussed with the students in class, and can also be found on www.titanmusic.org in the class syllabus. Performances are a graded component of our choir classes.

Thank you in advance for your flexibility with this new format. Our hope is to have more space for families to invite guests, and have a more comfortable atmosphere by allowing more seating. The kids have been working really hard and have a great evening of choral music prepared for you! We are looking forward to seeing you Monday evening!

Friday Night Live Info

As Friday Night Live approaches, there are several pieces of information we wanted to share with you to ensure that the evening goes smoothly. If you have not been to FNL before, it is a student driven variety show that is very different from a traditional choral concert.

Tickets: Every person watching the show in the PAC (students included) must have purchased a ticket to the event . Tickets are $7.00 if purchased in advance. If we have unsold tickets left, they are $8.00 at the door (cash or check only). Tickets are sold during all lunch shifts (cash or checks to LSW). Friday night, the doors to the PAC will open at 6:30 PM, the show begins at 7:00 PM. Seating is general admission and will be on a “first come, first served” basis. All patrons entering the PAC will turn in their ticket and have their hand stamped as they enter. You must show your stamp to re-enter the PAC. The hand stamp is new protocol this year. We will also be broadcasting the show in the choir room for the choir students who do not have a ticket to watch the show in the PAC.

DVD Sales: DVD’s will be available for purchase on Friday night through New Emotion Films. There will be order forms in your programs to fill out and turn in at the New Emotion sales table during intermission and following the show. DVD’s are $15.00.

Tomorrow’s Dress Rehearsal: Tomorrow during each class period, we will have the ‘dress rehearsal’ for FNL. All students must bring their costumes to school tomorrow. If you are hearing about FNL costumes for the first time, your student has had this information for several weeks:) Each class has been given complete information on what they need to do for their costume.

Last but certainly not least: Thank you for supporting this even t! Friday Night Live is the primary source of funding for the entire choral department and sustains our department so we can continue to provide basic necessities and opportunities for your students. The kids have a great show prepared for you that promises to be very entertaining. We are looking forward to seeing you all Friday night!

Great Choir Concert Last Night

Great concert last night, everyone! Just a loose end to “tie up” (Pun intended) from Mrs. Krinke:

If your son did not turn in his Men’s Choir Jacket and Tie on Tuesday night, he must have it turned in no later than Friday, April 19. Any boys who fail to turn in their uniforms will be issued a fine card.

Thank you so much for your support!

Choir Information

Greetings! We just wanted to thank all of you for supporting our students at the Ice Cream Social on Tuesday. We had a great turn out and enjoyed wonderful music in a perfect setting. The big fall concerts are on Monday, Oct 8 (choir) and Tuesday, Oct 9 (orchestra). More information will be coming!

Read on for important information regarding concert attire:

Women’s Dresses (choir, band, orchestra)

Your daughter should have brought home a peach colored sheet of paper two weeks ago regarding our performance gowns. We have measured and ordered dresses for those who need a gown. They are $80.00 (unless they required a larger size) and checks payable to LSWHS. Once your daughter has paid for their gown, we will send it home with her. Below is the information for alterations:

* The skirts come from the factory extremely long. They (both the skirt and its liner) will need to be serged on a serging machine (not a regular hem) so that, when finished, it is 1″ from the floor with their black, close-toed concert dress shoes on.

* Mrs. Annette Helton is available for this, should anyone need her services. They may contact her at: 816-525-1928 or nettles63@gmail.com or www.TheBestEmbroidery.com

She charges $15 if she has the skirt at least 2 weeks prior to our concert Monday,October 8. She charges $30 if she gets the skirt less than 2 weeks from October 8.

* Each girl will need to take her concert dress shoes when she goes for the fitting, be it Mrs. Helton or whomever.

* The blouses’ necklines must either be tacked or a black camisole worn so absolutely no cleavage shows.

Concert Choir

Concert Choir members will wear a choir robe and stole. Each member also needs to have concert black clothing (solid black) from the waist down. Men must wear a while collared dress shirt and dark colored neck tie. Women wear solid black dress slacks or skirt with black hosiery.

There is a $30 fee per member that pays for the rental of a choir robe & stole, as well as their choir t-shirt. As of now, we have 20 students who still have not paid their fee. We need the fee taken care of as soon as possible. The student may bring cash or a check (made payable to LSWHS) to Mrs. Pabst (not in the safe, please).

Men’s Choir

Each member of Men’s Choir is required to purchase a dress shirt from our distributor and rent their jacket & tie, totaling $30. If your son is new to men’s choir, we have already measured and ordered their men’s choir shirt. If they have been a member of LWSHS Men’s Choir in previous years and own the shirt, they are only required to pay $10 for the rentals.

We have also sent home all members with their rented jacket & tie. There will be an extra charge at the end of the year if either are returned damaged. They will not receive their shirt until their fee has been paid. Again, we need these paid as soon as possible. Cash or checks (payable to LSWHS) should be given to Mrs. Pabst.
