Titan Pride Update, Friday, October 2nd

It’s Friday again, and it’s competition time! Please read carefully for information about tomorrow, and next week’s craziness.

Thank you ALL for coming last night. It was really nice to have a captive audience for our kids to feel an energy rush. We are really close to making this thing hit on all fronts. Excited for tomorrow!

Saturday
Please make sure your child is here at or before their call time. They will need a backpack filled with clothing for any type of weather, snacks, money for concessions, and more importantly, black socks and marching shoes. They should be wearing their yellow "Shine" shirts for the day.

We strongly encourage families to attend and support the Titan Pride at their first competition of the year. Go Titans!

Concert Choir Robe Fees

Hello Concert Choir families:

We still have several Concert Choir members who have not taken care of their $25.00 “robe fee” that was due several weeks ago. Please check with your student and make sure this is taken care of as soon as possible.

Thank you!

Amy Krinke

Men's Choir uniform information

Hello Men’s Choir Families:

The following letter regarding Men’s Choir uniforms was sent home with your son over two weeks ago when we fitted the guys for their Men’s Choir blazers. Unfortunately, as of this moment, we have 46 guys who have not taken care of their $30.00 uniform payment. We have the Men’s choir shirts ready to pass out, but need the students to take care of their $30 fee before we give them their shirt. The guys already have their blazer and tie in their possession. Each student must also provide their own black dress slacks and black dress shoes. With the concert fast approaching we need to get this taken care of right away.

Thank you!

Amy Krinke and Jacob Lowry

Men’s Choir Uniform Fee:

$30.00 includes purchasing a Men’s Choir shirt, and the rental of a jacket and tie. Please make checks payable to LSWHS by September 18, 2015

Titan Pride Update, Friday, September 25

Happy Friday Titans!

Another week gone by and now we hit competition season! Woohoo! This means we have commitments 3 out of the 4 Saturdays in October, so plan ahead.

NEXT WEEK
Tuesday, Evening Rehearsal
6:30-8:30pm
With this being competition week it is CRUCIAL that the kids are at rehearsal. We’ve had lots of absences lately (some unexcused) and it is very difficult to prepare without everyone in attendance. Please avoid all conflicts (only exception is school activity related). “Section” tee shirts worn this night.

Thursday, Evening Rehearsal and PARENT PREVIEW
6:30-8:30pm
This is our last rehearsal prior to Saturday’s competition. We are wanting to have as many/all parents as we can in the stadium around 7:45pm to 1. Have a captive preview of the show. and 2. To learn the audience participation spots in the show to help add energy for Saturday. Any/all parents/family/friends encouraged to attend to help our kids prepare.
Students will wear the yellow “Shine” shirt for this rehearsal.

Saturday, Park Hill Marching Festival
Attached you will find the itinerary for the day. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Call time for full drumline, drum majors, and brass soloists is 7:45am
Call time for all others is 9:30am
All students should arrive in yellow “Shine” shirts, shorts, black socks, and marching shoes.
Please have students eat breakfast before they arrive.
We will be serving lunch during the day.
Students can bring money if they’d like addition concessions.
We encourage parents to join us all day OR show up for performances. These events are fundraisers for the schools hosting them, so there will be an admission fee. The more parents we have the better!!!!!

Future Information

  1. The rehearsal mentioned last week scheduled for Friday, October 23rd, has been postponed to a later date. More info to follow.
  2. Boys have been fitted for their concert tuxedo. We provide the coat, pants, and cummerbund, but families need to provide their son with a TUXEDO shirt (this is not a normal white dress shirt) and a black BOWTIE. First performance for this uniform is in November.

  4. Students planning to audition for All-District Band, should be practicing regularly as the audition is quickly approaching.
  5. Start getting the concert instrument in playing condition, as we will begin concert season the week of October 26.

Titan Pride Update, Friday, September 18

What a day yesterday! Man, was I exhausted. Hope your kiddos were able to endure the long day and accomplish all of their other things in life. THANK YOU for being flexible and making it happen.

TONIGHT
Call time is 4:15pm for ALL members of the marching band. I realize some will be coming from other school activities, and I have worked that out with several of the sponsors, so no worries. Uniform shirts, black socks, marching shoes for tonight. Reminder: we will perform AFTER the game 🙂

NEXT WEEK
Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals as scheduled. 6:30pm -8:30pm in section tee shirts
Friday night football game vs LSHS. Big Game!!!!
Call time will be 5pm for battery and 5:45pm for all others

Updates/Future Reminders/New Items

  1. Band button pictures were sent home from rehearsal last night! They are for parents/family members to wear to games and competitions in support of your son/daughter. If you didn’t get what you thought you ordered, please contact me directly.
  2. All-District Band Auditions (required for lettering in band): There will be a mandatory informational meeting on Tuesday morning, 9/22 at 7:10am for all students interested in auditioning for the KC Metro District #3 All-District Band. Please make sure students are there on time for the meeting.
  3. Pep Band lists and schedules have been posted on the band room door. Each student (all wind players, Kevin McMilian, and Justin McKinney) has been assigned to one of the two pep bands (Titan Band OR Pride Band). I have attached the same document to this email so you can get them on your family calendar for January and February. Each band will attend 5 scheduled basketball games. The kids have been told about conflicts and how to solve them.
  4. Percussion Ensemble – This ensemble will meet during 1st hour beginning in January and will also have additional rehearsals outside of class (TBD). All percussionists in first hour will be a part of this ensemble to perform at State Large Ensemble Contest in April. This will satisfy the same requirement that all wind players will satisfy by being in the pep band.
  5. New Addition to the Schedule – I always hate add things to an already busy schedule, but this is a great opportunity for our kids and program. On Friday, October 23 (non-school day), we will join the other two marching bands for a "fake parade" with the intent of recording it and submitting it as an audition for the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA in 2017/18. This rehearsal/recording session will take place from 3pm to 5pm. It is POSSIBLE that we will have a home playoff game that evening as well. Please add this to your family calendar.
  6. If you didn’t already see my CHARMS email, we are in need of volunteers next Wednesday and Thursday during the day to help fit our boys in tuxedos. If you are available between 7:15am and 1:30pm (or a part of that), please contact Carol Mosier at cmosier@kc.rr.com

Thank you! Have a great weekend!

BAND: IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR TOMORROW! Please read!

Hi there! Hoping you all get a chance to see this tonight (WEDNESDAY)

2 VERY important changes for tomorrow:

1. For the parade tomorrow, please have students come to school in non-athletic shorts and an LSW shirt that is navy, grey, or white. (all students have at least one shirt that fits this request)
Make sure they bring/wear it to school as we leave before school lets out for the day (1:15)

2. Not sure why I didn’t think of this sooner, so I apologize if it creates any logistical issues for you. Instead of having mandatory homework/study time between dinner and rehearsal, we are just going to start rehearsal early and end early. Therefore, tomorrow’s updated schedule looks like this:

1:15 – students released from 6th hour
1:30 – students load buses with instruments for parade
1:45 – arrive at First Baptist Church downtown and head to gymnasium for music rehearsal
3:00 – line up for parade
3:30 – parade begins
4:00 – dinner is served in First Baptist Church gymnasium
4:45 – load buses to return to school for rehearsal
5:15 – rehearsal begins
7:30 – REHEARSAL ENDS (please pick your son/daughter up at this time)

THANK YOU!

Titan Harmony 2015-16

Congratulations to the members of the 2015-2016 Titan Harmony Chamber Ensemble! This is a VERY difficult list to post, due to the quality of all of the auditions. All who went through this process should be very proud. If you do not see your name on the list please come and ask for feedback. Our first rehearsal is scheduled for September 22nd, 5:00-6:15.

Ice Cream Social notes

Good evening,

Thank you to everyone that has turned in tickets, volunteered to serve and bring desserts. Again this is on Tuesday starting at 6pm.

Desserts – I’ve put a signup sheet in charms if you’re bringing desserts to give us an idea of how many to expect. You can begin delivering them at 4pm in the Commons area (on Tuesday the 15th). If you can cut your dessert prior to bringing it up that would be great to make it easier to quickly.

Volunteers – We’re still in need of many volunteers. I understand that some of the slots are during the performances, this unfortunately can’t be helped. Please don’t let this stop you from volunteering and step away to watch the performances of your student.

Call times – Teachers should have either sent these out already or will be.

Tickets – If you need more tickets I’d suggest at this point to just pay at the Ice Cream Social, we’ll have registers. Please ask your student to turn in any unused tickets and any ticket payments as well.

Serving food – This will begin at roughly 5pm, as soon as we have enough volunteers in place. Again the more volunteers we have the faster we can serve and keep the lines short.

Thank you,

Brent Grigsby
